Concert Summary

Marty Balin is best known as the co-founder and soaring tenor voice of the Jefferson Airplane, and later, Jefferson Starship. This show, recorded in the fall of 1981, was captured on Balin's first post-Starship solo tour and features mostly material from his successful debut album, Balin. He had assembled a cracker-jack touring band that included Johnny DeCaro on guitar and percussionist Steve Forman.…entire summary

Miracles is my all time favorite song and I LOVE Marty Balin's voice and talent. I listen to this version of Miracles above over and over; his voice is so incredible in this live version.

Marty's got a great voice. This song sounds like it would be suitable for a lounge.

I have been an Airplane fan since the beginning. Marty was always the standout vocalist in his time and this concert proves the man still has what it takes to prove that rock and roll never gets old. I heard a quote from another musician once saying. "Rock and Roll is not an age, it's an attitude". Like Marty's voice and talent he still has the attitude to rock on. This has to be one of his best !!!!

Worth it for an outstanding rendition of "Hearts"...especially the guitar solo!

Agree with Bruce. Tight show. Excellent band. This IS a rock concert!

An amazing show...probably Balin at his very best. I attended this show and recall is sharp edge. The audio captures it well. This is recorded at the peak of his popularity as a solo artist. Airplane is not know for its tightness, but this Balin show is exceedingly well executed. Note several cuts that never appeared on a Balin recording. "Just A Dream" is such a cut and could have easily been a hit. It drives at 110 miles per hour and is typical of Balin's sharp, electric, hard driving rock style. Enjoy it!
