Concert Summary

Manfred Mann is probably the only rock artist to completely reinvent himself four times (using four completely different musical styles and band lineups), and to score a #1 Billboard hit with each incarnation. This show features the third incarnation of his fourth band, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, and was aired on the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1984, seven years after the Earth Band had a #1 hit with Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded By The Light."

This recording was caught on the last night of a three-night stint in Budapest. Thompson, who sang with the Earth Band in its late-'70s heyday,…entire summary

"Blinded By The Light" is one of my favorite songs. Great Job!

Thankfully we have the Concert Vault. When it comes to the Earth Band, most all of the Classic Rock Stations only play Blinded By the Light. When I lived in Germany, Davy's On The Road Again was a staple by all of the local and regional bands that I ever saw. When I called a request in to my local Classic Rock Station here in Virginia, all I got was "Nobody ever heard of that one".

Except for a few seconds after "Blinded" has finished this is an exact copy of the "Budapest" live album. Even the mix seems to be identical. However, legend has it that "Budapest" had been extensively dubbed over in the studio. Btw, the official extended version also has "Runner", and "Don't Kill it Carol" from these shows. The DVD has even more songs ("Angels at my Gate", "Africa Suite", "Tribal Statistics", "Martha's Madman" and "You Angel You").

I remember Runner being on the original King Biscuit also.

If I'm not mistaken this show was released years ago. However there always was a song missing and it's missing here. The song "Runner" was also performed.

They're just a part of my teen years. I liked to hear their music, to fly away (California...I've been there many times before, but only in my dreams...), I've been "Davy" on the road again in my real life, twice at least...I like Dylan, Marley and Sprinsgsteen, too. Making love and listening to their music is such a different experience. Just try it. Right now!!!
