Concert Summary

Manfred Mann is probably the only rock artist to completely reinvent himself four times, (using four completely different musical styles and band line-ups), and to score a #1 Billboard hit with each incarnation. This show features his fourth band, Manfred Mann's Earth Band when they were playing New York's Beacon Theatre touring for their most recent release The Roaring Silence on Warner. Two songs are captured here—"Spirits in the Night" (hit song off that aforementioned album), and the widely covered Bob Dylan tune "Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn)."

Thanks for all the comments folks. Seems like Father of Day was tacked on for the King Biscuit broadcast to fill out this set; it was the same performance that can be found on the San Diego show on the site here. We've removed that track and updated the personnel list accordingly. Thanks for listening, and cheers!

About Aviator : after the first album "Aviator" issued in '78, a second album "Turbulence" was issued in '80

actualy it is Rodgers singing on "Father" but it IS Thompson on the other two songs. Strange, but great music all the same.

This is not the Mick Rogers line-up. This has Chester Thompson on Vocals. Probably the same line-up as on "Roaring Silence". Great excerpt though. Hope you find the the rest in the future.

I third the Aviator comment. Great forgotten band.

Wow, Aviator - haven't thought of them in like 30 years. Their (one and only?) album had some great music. I need to dig it out of storage. I was a huge MMEB fan in the 70s.

Nice little King Biscuit "excerpt". Mick Rogers is/was a very underrated singer and guitarist, imo. He formed a band with ex-Jethro Tull drummer Clive Bunker a few years after this called 'Aviator', and their first self-titled record is a little known gem.
