I have loved John Mclaughlin since the days of "Turn It Over" and "Devotion" unto recent releases like "Floating Point" and "Five Peace Band". But there was a unique magic with the original MO, one of those true bands where the sum total are greater than the parts. Transcendental, joyful, impressive music. So far ahead of its time that it's really timeless Art. Absolutely wonderful concert and excellent sound.

Pretty sure I was at one of the Boston shows. Know what I mean when I say "pretty sure"? As best as I can recall it was great. I've got a bud who save a bunch of ticket stubs from way back then. Got to give him a call. Finishing Dance of Maya now. Yikes!

Having stumbled through the last decade, or so, trying to find anything decent to listen to since Zappa died, it's still refreshing to come back to Mahavishnu and listen to real musicians who play TOGETHER without the aid of a click track / drum machine. This concert clearly is from a golden age but only for people who know how to LISTEN.
