I just wish they had the concert in 73 that i attended in person along with concerts that they performed with the second band. There aren't too many bands that i would collect these types of recordings. I can only imagine where this band would have gone if they had a few more years under their belt together. Unreal musicianship and completely original composition that stands the test of time.

I don't know if this is the best Mahavishnu show on here, but its definitely the best sounding. Best band ever.

I was there back in 1973 and was wonderfully amazed to have shook John McLaughlin`s hand after the show

"One Word"-who knew Jack Bruce was actually singing (his words, Johns'?) with Lifetime just a few years before? Check out the studio version on the "turn It Over" cd, as well as the unforunately poorly recorded bootleg of Lifetime @ Newcastle 1970!

Once McLaughlin tunes up his twelve string on Open Country Joy, he flies on it like I have never heard before. A twelve string that fast and precise!!!

It was Aerosmith who opened for them. 'Dream on' was their early radio hit.

...they play so fast it becomes mellow. Jan is my favorite keyboardist, even his 'pop' records have some killer moments, but the ECM stuff he's on is mind boggling.
this band has been out of my realm of listening since back in the day, but because of finding them here I have dug out my stash of the three original band records. thanks, WGV folks!

Listened to this in LA on KMHD when a jock would take over for hours with one artist or band and there would be immersion in the work of one genius after another and despite depression starting to kick in, I knew the world was good.

    Wow...
    so nice to hear this.
    I saw this line-up ,...twice !!

the very abrupt ending of "BoF" (cuts off suddenly) is a bit of a shock , however that 'version' of the title track is quite different & exploratory , so a real gem.

I would certainly suggest to anyone to BUY their "lost" album "Trident Sessions" Not to be missed. ~V Dorje
