Concert Summary

The initial classic lineup of the Mahavishnu Orchestra lasted less than three years and only released two studio albums and one live recording during this era, but these recordings had a profound effect, redefining the jazz/rock fusion movement. Amazing music as usual but I wonder if anyone else thinks that perhaps this wasn't John's most 'awakened' solo. I just felt he slightly lost his way in this actual piece.

I would be interested to know what people think are the five best MO concerts on here and why?

It's nice to read some complimentary comments about Rick Laird in the concert summary; Rick was a fine bass player even before he joined McLaughlin. This band was truly awesome! I don't think Fourth Dimension are ever going to equal this group.

Who plays with this kind of passion anymore?

Nice concert! Thanks for adding it. One QUESTION: is it supposed to be priced at $9.98 - most of the ones this short (44 mins. total) have been only $5.98. thanks

This band has been at the top of my list of THE BEST since 1971 and The Inner Mounting Flame. It has come full circle as my 19 year old son has become a devoted follower of their music. "Stunning music" is exactly it.

If only the mainstream world of music would find out about these guys.

Thank God for JM and the boys that gave us this stunning music. K3
