  • TheJimbo Thursday, April 05, 2012 9:51 pm I could've sworn I heard Greg Allman there! Ronnie sure sounded just like him! Not too mention the entire band (Allmans that is!) I could've sworn...
  • windysuisun Monday, March 26, 2012 11:06 pm This show @ Winterland was in support for the GBMB LP and sure was nice to review the B/W video. How about Billy P. solo on Tuesdays Gone and one of the best front man- Ronnie Vansant. Great memories- Thx
  • lynyrdskynyrd9100 Sunday, March 04, 2012 5:35 am cool, how can I download this show with video?
  • Anonymous Thursday, November 24, 2011 5:02 am I always liked that LS just did what they did best.. rock out... southern..jam..whatever.. they didn't try to be something they weren't... If only springsteen had gotten that concept... we would have been spared his attempts to be all things musical. not dissing 'the boss'..just wish he had figured that part out.
  • g500d Friday, November 18, 2011 7:02 am All these years and I still can't sit still when I hear this stuff. I used to play along on guitar and bass in my living room when I was a kid. I still know the parts. What an amazing, straight forward rock band. Where did all the good bands go. Anything on the radio is crap.
  • megeneration Thursday, November 17, 2011 4:25 pm Cassie Gains, Jo Jo Billingsly & Leslie Hawkins, AKA The Honkettes!
  • stinkyuk Thursday, November 17, 2011 12:17 pm Can anybody tell me who backing singers were?.
  • stinkyuk Thursday, November 17, 2011 12:15 pm @acmebrew so true, never saw them live tho, thinks it would of been a huge high
  • alk272 Monday, November 14, 2011 12:52 pm Thanks so much for sharing this concert! I should know better than to listen to it at work. I still can't hear Freebird without tearing up.
  • acmebrew Saturday, November 12, 2011 11:41 pm Ronnie Van Zandt never got the credit he deserved for his vocal skills. I saw them 6 different times and they always brought their "A" game to each show.
  • EddieSF Saturday, November 12, 2011 9:48 pm As soon as "Train rolled on..." I got a chill...never got to see them, saw many great bands in the late 70's, was super bummed when I heard about the crash...
  • m d m Friday, October 28, 2011 6:22 pm Now I remember where my 20% hearing loss came from, of course in the right ear so I could play air guitar up against the speakers on 10.
  • Revo1117 Friday, October 28, 2011 3:20 pm This is LS with there "two guitar" line-up of Collins/ Rossingnton only. This was taped 3/7/76. In January 1975, Burns left the band and was replaced by Kentucky native Artimus Pyle on drums. Ed King left mid '75 tour due to exhaustion. Steven Gaines was invited to audition onstage with Skynyrd at a concert in Kansas City on May 11, 1976. Liking what they heard, the group also jammed informally with the Oklahoma native several times, then invited him into the group in June '76. With Gaines on board, the newly-reconstituted band recorded the double-live album One More From the Road at the Fox Theatre (Atlanta, Georgia) in Atlanta, and performed at the Knebworth festival, which also featured The Rolling Stones. They were just 5 shows into their "Street Survivors Tour" before the crash on October 20, 1977. There's a few B&W vids on Youtube from one of those shows last 5 shows (Ohio, I think).
  • gtrfreek Thursday, October 27, 2011 4:16 pm WE SURE MISS WINTERLAND! So many good shows......
  • donkeyboy3 Thursday, October 27, 2011 1:29 pm WV rules. This is the peak of American R&R greatness...Had the pleasure of meeting Leon, a few years before he died- He told me what he remembered about the crash...The dude was salt of the earth, and cooked great BBQ... Met Bob Burns(not in this vid), and smoked a few doobies w/him...cool guy. He worked at Ryan's steakhouse(if you can believe it) in the mid 80's. I'm an atlanta boy...ARS kicks ass, too.....
  • dennis4189 Thursday, October 27, 2011 1:01 pm I had the privilege of seeing Skynyrd in Boston in early '77 I think. Seems to me that Ronnie did a lot more jumping around on the stage when I saw the band than he does in this performance. Am I right?
  • Kynyrd Thursday, October 27, 2011 11:39 am What a great show. Not used to seeing Allen playing a Strat but it sounds killer. The band was on fire that night.
  • Anonymous Thursday, October 27, 2011 10:52 am Rock N' Roll AT ITS BEST!!! these guys obviously worked their asses off to get to be such a tight, rockin band. sad it didn't last longer. gimme back my bullets is unbeliveable...
  • Anonymous Thursday, October 27, 2011 7:39 am Gaines and his sister were on this tour.
  • Anonymous Thursday, October 27, 2011 7:38 am I saw this tour six weeks before the Winterland show. Great performance along with the Outlaws. Makes me greatful to have seen the best version of the band and not the current one.
  • thayowyk Thursday, October 27, 2011 5:36 am "I don't want to fight you over no c%@t"? Classy. That wouldn't get the first punch thrown in a bar.
  • Anonymous Thursday, May 19, 2011 12:50 pm So the line up here is Hughie Thomasson, Billy Jones, Allen Collins and Gary Rossington. Skynyrd was 2 guitarists at this time, King left the band before, Gaines joined a little later.
  • Anonymous Thursday, May 19, 2011 12:46 pm It's 4 guitarrists on this one. Skynyrd was joined by the Outlaws. Look at 4:13 Hughie Thomasson, 4:50 Billy Jones. No doubt about it. Great! I never knew Hughie shared the stage with the original Skynyrd lineup too.
  • orourke23 Sunday, May 08, 2011 7:32 am Oui, greta is French for stupendous. And the other guitar player is Gary Rossington. Gaines joined later.
  • Billiam Thursday, May 05, 2011 10:12 am I blew it. It is hard to keep track of all the changes in this group. The guitars are Allen Collins (playing lead on Freebird) and Steve Gaines. Gaines died in the plane crash and here is what happened to Collins: His life worsened even more so when, in 1986, he was in a tragic car accident which claimed the life of his new girlfriend. He was under the influence of alcohol. Allen was paralyzed from the waist down after the accident. Allen Collins died January 23, 1990 from chronic pneumonia, a complication of the paralysis.
  • SKUNK Thursday, May 05, 2011 3:53 am Also this line up is Ed King,Gary Rossington and Allen Collins.
  • SKUNK Thursday, May 05, 2011 3:48 am It does sound french
  • Billiam Wednesday, May 04, 2011 4:44 pm Hughie Thomasson joined them much later. I believe the guitars for this line-up are Ed King and Steve Gaines. Gaines and Van Zant (and others) were killed a year and a half later.
  • MR MARSHALL Tuesday, May 03, 2011 11:55 am Greta!?!?! what the F is Greta ?! Is that French?
  • SKUNK Saturday, April 30, 2011 2:42 pm Billy Jones was tremendous @ so was Hughie I hope they are both resting in peace also. What a shame
  • orourke23 Saturday, April 30, 2011 11:38 am Also Billy Jones on T for Texas. Another greta, underrated guitarist who went before his time.
  • Javelin26 Saturday, April 30, 2011 11:03 am That's hughie thomasson from the Outlaws on guitar!
  • Anonymous Saturday, April 30, 2011 10:38 am Who is the third guitarist on "T for Texas" ??
  • SKUNK Saturday, April 30, 2011 8:51 am VanZant was the greatest r i p Brother
  • hifisapi Friday, April 29, 2011 1:04 pm powell really kicks butt on this one.....
