Concert Summary

After years of life on the road and with their role models, the Allman Brothers Band, struggling to survive the deaths of two of its most distinctively talented members, today Lynyrd Skynyrd has become the quintessential Southern Rock band. Under the leadership of frontman and primary songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, the group's melodic lyric driven ballads and power driven hard rockers would catapult the group into one of the most popular touring bands in the world. The group's distinctive guitar attack, combined with an overtly defiant and rebellious attitude, gave them a cultural identity…entire summary

Also, Jo Jo became Debra Jo White and lived here in Alabama performing Gospel music locally. She became quite well known for that locally. Sadly she died from cancer, I believe it was sometime last year. We saw them in '76. They were a fantastic group. Really tight musically.

Just watched an assorted Old Grey Whistletest recently with one song by them over there. Think I got it off netflix. Check it out. Got a lot of good performances on it.

Actually, ........Skynyrd without Ronnie is like Sabbath without Ozzy........you know, singer to singer.

........Skynyrd without Ronnie is like the Dead without Jerry. With Johnny singing they should be called "No Further"........

Board recordings are Real Audio of what the sound person put thru the PA. In a lot of cases we make Great Sound. Some suck but this Rocks. The guitars may not be as loud as the vocals, etc. but this is best way to hear a show, except for Live Recordings that were Mixed and Mastered later.

hi scrapmetal (Apr 19 2011): I was reading your comment but what is "soundboard recordings"? just last week i was listening to Mountain on this site recorded at Fillmore East 6/27/1971 which is available for downloading. i have never loaded any music and not prepared to do so as i believe the sound quality would not be as good as a proper cd. anyway, i was on ebay and there was this guy selling this Mountain cd and title is Mountain - Silver Tapes which is the fillmore east 6/27/1971. this seller mentioned that it is a soundboard recordings. can you please explain? thank you.

are you serious, dude? If you can get it as a paid download whats the dif if its available at any retail store.Bottom line is we get the music & the bands gets the royalties.I mean if you think its cheezy and dont want to pay get one of your buddies to buy it then burn it for free for chrissakes. The king biscuit shows have been available as retail cds for years plus theres another series called Authorized Bootleg that is all soundboard recordings by both blues & rock artists. Its all good in my book if it means more great music for my collection. And again if you dont want to pay then surf the net & download to your heats content, although lots of artists would view that as cheezy.....
