Concert Summary

Loverboy was literally an overnight sensation. Within weeks of being heard at a number of high profile rock clubs in its native Toronto, the band, with huge hair and spandex pants, had a number of labels chasing them. Signed immediately to Columbia Records and to producer Bruce Fairbain, the group released its debut album and quickly scored huge radio hits with "Turn Me Loose" and "The Kid Is Hot Tonight."

This show was recorded in 1982 as the band worked as a stadium rock opener, just two years after they formed.…entire summary

What a big year 1982 was for these guys. Many of their gigs were as opener for big outdoor festivals, this same month doing Anaheim Stadium's Summer Strut and Graham's Day On The Green on successive days - that would be a weekend audience of about 180,000! At times their "girl-pop" sound was a poor match for the heavy metal headliners to follow, and I remember their Anaheim set was shortened (or at least interrupted) by a huge food fight, with drink cups full of Angel infield dirt flying onto the stage, as fans yelled "Scorpions!"

Great show. Guitar solo in #7 could've been pulled out as a separate track, but that's a micro nit. Decent length show if they were playing as an opener as summary suggests. Interesting to end with a 14 minute version of "Emotional." Anyone know who they opened for this particular night and if headliner's show is here in the Vault? (Journey or Foreigner possibly per the earlier comments?)

WOW does this bring back the memories... Reading the other comments I couldnt agree more, what I did notice is that no one has mentioned Matt Frenette on the skins. Remember his "wild-eyed" antics and head bobbin to the beat,,,like Joe Cocker ,,,,,he really has always held these guys together. Hahahahaha made myself laugh just thinking about how crazy it was, and he'd climb up on his kit, strip off his shirt, give a quick 4 count on the sticks then jump down to the high-hat for the beginning of turn me loose,,,AHHHH THE GOOD TIMES. I have seen these guys about 25 times over the years and even got to hang with them one night back in 1998 at a small club in Michigan called Daisey Dukes. They were truely a great bunch of guys, down to earth and very humble when I told them that they really inspired me and my group of friends every summer while we were growing up. Over the few hours they (Paul, Matt, Scott and Doug--Mike took off pretty quick after the show) stuck around the answered all kinds of questions, told stories and even seem more interested in stories of my law enforcement career than in telling their stories. A real group of "everyday" guys that you'd be glad to go fishin with. My only regret is that the film in the camera I had failed to advance and 36 exposures were all captured on just one frame. The poor guy at the film developers thought I was gonna go postal when I didnt get even one picture with the fellas. Enuff already, Hey to all my old summertime pals in Gaylord, Mi--Pat, Heather, Brian, Jeff, and Tom, remember hiking the trails with the ghetto-blaster on one shoulder jammin Get Lucky, Keep it Up and Turn Me loose?? I know you will read this after I tell you about this site. Thanks Wolfgang Concert Vault----great site...... try to make more of these downloadab le,,,people will pay for sure, I would.
