About

Lighthouse

Toronto Jazz-rock outfit Lighthouse was a force to be reckoned with in the late 60's and early 70's. Formed by drummer Skip Prokop and eventually made up of over a dozen musicians, Lighthouse shot out of Canada in 1968 and jumped on the live music circuit, releasing two singles on RCA and gaining enough prominence to appear at the Newport and Monterey Jazz Festivals and the Isle of Wight Festival. In late 1970 their debut album "Peacing It All Together" was released, followed by 1971's "One Fine Morning" and "Thoughts of Movin' On." Two more albums were released the subsequent year, "Lighthouse Live" and "Sunny Days." Once 1973 rolled around, members began to steadily leave, slowly unraveling the band until their official disbandment in 1976. The 80's and 90's brought them a couple reunion shows and several members had credible solo careers, although Lighthouse's light went out after the early 70's heyday of their vibrant jazz-rock sound.
