Concert Summary

This remarkable Leo Kottke set, when he opened for Linda Ronstadt at the Greek Theater, captures him at a peak time, just as he was releasing his classic Chewing Pine album. Not surprisingly, this set features a good chunk of that material. Kottke's astounding guitar skills are here in abundance and fans of his earlier albums will be delighted with his choice of material on this night.

Have seen Leo in concert a number of times and he never disappoints. He is so much fun to listen to as he goes off on near-incomprehensible tangents between songs. Great wit goes along with his incredible artistic talent. I once took several of his old albums (you know... vinyl?) to a show here in Missoula, MT and waited afterwards to see if he'd sign them. He did, but when I showed him "Six & Twelve String Guitar" he said "... you should burn this one." Apparently, not one of his favorites. I hope he continues touring and making music for years to come.

The 70s were good to Leo Kottke. I saw him twice in concert. Actually got to meet him in Dallas before one show. Great guy with a great gift. I hope some more lived cds/dvds are in the works.
