Concert Summary

Kris Kristofferson, for as long as the world's known him, has been reflective, prying open his heart at its stitches and pulling apart the protective casing surrounding the vaporous and mystical soul that's been ever-important to the Texan, and just giving them air, staring into the holes and getting drowsy on what they're each telling him silently. The thumping of that heart has always spoken to him, a handsome man still at the age of 73, and it's always forced him to believe in its neatly focused, but strong powers. It's there for love and for pain and for keeping everything together,…entire summary

I've been a fan since I heard Roger Miller singing "Me and Bobby McGee" in 1969. I saw Kris in 1970 in Vavcouver, in Buffalo in '78, and a few times in Ottawa. I'd like to send a message to Kris and maybe he'll read it here, who knows? Kris, when you finish singing a song you always thank the audience. I'd like to borrow a line from John Norman Howard. You don't have to thank us for giving us something good. On the contrary, my friendFor all the thousands of hours that I and everyone else has enjoyed your songs, your voice or your movies, I just want to tell you...Kris, from the heart, thank you.

Marry me and sing me to sleep every night. Is there anything more romantic than a gifted man pouring out his heart in lyric?Loved you then. Love you now....

KK the way he should be heard. His history of recorded works is littered with over produced fussy things. This stands out in stark relief simply by its bare bones approach, him and his guitar. Yes, his voice is a ravaged worn instrument that fails repeatedly to hit notes, but these simple little songs are among his finest. 'Sister Sinead' with its "too old for breaking, too young to tame" may well be among his finest since the classics of the early 70's. If only we could turn back time so he could record 'Closer to the Bone' in his rich undiminished voice before time, alcohol and other things damaged it. 'From Here To Eternity' reminds one in its totality to Bob Dylan's 'Not Dark Yet' but with a different attitude and perspective. I would love to see him as a traveling troubadour going from folk club to coffee house to intimate lounge. With his rich back catalogue and songs and in performances as immediate as these, his remaining years could be a treasure trove for those who respect and love songwriting and song writers. I wish I could have been there.

Kris is just one of the greatest songwriters of all time. He and John Prine write the most heartfelt and significant songs of any generation. Bravo again Kris...well done you old troubadore.

so that's how Kris sounds in a coffin...when he passes on I hope somebody puts a guitar in and wires his coffin for recording. it will probably be as good or better then this. before that I would love to hear him and Neil Young sing together, he's got time.
