Concert Summary

Upper Darby, Pennsylvania is a collective mix of Irish Catholic, Greek Orthodox and Virginia blue-collar working class. The township borders West Philly, and when a rock band plays the "Tower" it can jam up traffic for hours. Halfway up the hill on West Chester Pike, three blocks north of 69th Street Terminal, glows the marquee of the Tower Theater. Its rich history is painted thick on the theater's cracked walls. The Tower's stage has served as a viable proving ground for many of rock's alums, including Bruceentire summary

I saw the best KANSAS show this summer August, 09 in Merced, CA and Steve Walsh especially blew our minds with his range, he is definately back! He was animated, walking all around the stage and generally enjoying that he was entertaining us wheatheads. All the band members were on, having a great time and loving performing for us. That night was memorable. I have seen them 5 times and this was the best of all I've seen in the last 5 years. Awesome musicians!

So Kansas did BTBW aswell? Reasonable effort, bit pedestrian but faithful I suppose. If you like the song, and who doesn't, check out Slade's version on Slade Alive. In the words of Hamlisch, Bayer Sager and Carly Simon.......Nobody Does It Better!

I just saw Kansas last night in Topeka peforming with the Washburn Symphony Orchestra. They recorded a live DVD 'No Place Like Home' to be released later this year. It was a great performance. Steve Walsh has recovered his voice and most of his range, and was amazing on keyboards. Steve Morse and Kerry Livgren made guest appearances, and the music was better than ever. This is the first time I have seen David Ragsdale, and he adds strong stage presence in addition to his excellent violin skills. This was the best concert I have seen in years.

I was at this concert. Like Phil Ehart said, the trick with having Steve Walsh in disguise and sitting in the audience was really cool. I was about 12 people away from where Steve was sitting. Was very impressed with Steve Morse playing the violin on Dust in the Wind. Great mix of classic songs and material off of the Spirit of Things album.

Wasn't Rich Williams in the band at this time as well? I'm pretty sure there are 2 guitars on these performs...*And* his unmistakable style is definitely heard on the solo in Paradox!! Don't forget the "MeatWall"!!

I saw this show during the '89 Germany tour in Frankfurt, they where a really great liveband without Kerry Livgren too. Good Memories on this evening. Saw them a couple of times later, but from 2000 to 2008 they went old and tired, nothing left from the former energy. In June 2008 they played in Germany, Darmstadt, in front of a 300 crowd. Poor performance, Steve Walsh sung half of the set, Greer the other half. The livesound of the 5-piece lacks very from the former perfection and Walsh seems to be everywhere but on stage this night... sad to see this. They should stop touring.
