Concert Summary

Kansas made the transformation from weighty prog rock band to all-out pop/rock hit makers in the mid-1970s, when they issued a series of FM rock staples that included "Carry On My Wayward Son," "Dust In The Wind," "The Point Of No Return" and others. In the beginning, the six-man band had a creative brain trust consisting mainly of vocalist/keyboardist Steve Walsh and guitarist/keyboardist Kerry Livgren. Together and on their own, they contributed the lion's share of material and overall direction of the band. Elephante went on to be an influential producer (with his brother Dino)in the mostly heavier side of Christian rock.......his voice matured as did his songwriting. Suffice to say he sounds terrific here. Conversely I was shocked to hear the poor quality of Walsh's voice on the reunion album......this, for the band, was truly the last great album and tour.

I'm so glad God chose so many people out of this band to spread His word.

Phenomenal performance. Kansas at their best. Elefante fit in perfectly. The songs sound like the day they were recorded.

I have seen Kansas every tour. This tour was musically excellent. (Pretty much they all were) I did like Elephante but his wardrobe looked like it was stolen from Air Supply. I wish Livgren had just abdicated his lyrics to someone else and they could have cranked out a few more albums without being weighed down by the Christian thing.

I saw KANSAS open for Bad Company in Kalamazoo, Mich in 1975. To say it was a severe spanking for B.C. would be a gross understatement. Of course it didn't help that when Paul Rogers took the stage, the first words out of his mouth were "Hello, DETROIT!!"

Man, this concert was mixed very well. I mean it sounds great! Ehart is just such a beast. What a great drummer.

I would smoke the herb, crank up Kansas, and play pickup B-ball or toss the disk at the BG park...God, Ehart sooo great...

I remember seeing the north american tours for Song4America, Mask, Leftoverture & PointOfKnowReturn. And I think those were their best years.
