About

Junior Wells

One of the more noted Chicago blues singers and harmonica players, Junior Wells began playing harmonica as a child. When he was just sixteen, he auditioned for Muddy Waters and in 1952 joined Waters' band. It was with Waters that Wells cut his first solo hit, "Hoodoo Man." His other best-known hit was "Messin' with the Kid." In 1966 Wells teamed up with guitarist Buddy Guy, a long-running touring and recording partnership that ended in the nineties.
