I was there...and not a Journey fan ( then) .... but the "lights" still give me chicken skin every time I hear it now thinking of the days music and the quality of light as it filtered through the park that late afternoon. the love was the air ...Santana and the Dead ,and yes Journey killed it!

    Perry's voice sounds .......bad

Grew up with Ross and George in East Bay and Frumius at their practice "hall" gate 5 wharehouse on the Oakland / Alameda estuary next to Squirkenworks roack clip factory. And yeah it goes on and on. But when BG died just like that it was a blow to everyone. So leave Steve alone. He is OK now. It's 2009. You know? He's a survivor.

devil's comment below said it best. Oh and btw dirtytrix F U & Arnel. Arnel couldn't even hold a candle to Perry even on Perry's worst night. Journey's best CD is with Arnel...roflmfao.

This is where Schon and Cain realized that Perry had totally lost it. Has anybody actually listened to the CD with Arnel. It's one of the best Journey CDs ever. Give the credit where it's due - Jonathain Cain wrote most of the melodies to the BIG Journey songs.

Does anyone realize that he may sound off because one of his best friends just died !

The voice is a funny and difficult instrament and I still love listening to him here even though it isn't his clear tone when he was in his early thirties but it still has his passion all the way through. I honestly beleive that the non stop touring did damage his vocal chords they just woudn't let the guy take a break. All singers have times when they just arn't as they were I have heard so many long lived singers go through this, specially when they have not been singing for awhile and Steve has often said that he took many years off and had not been singing before this gig came up because he did sound much better a few years later on tour and in fact in some ways on the FTLOSM tour at times he sounded just as good as in 81. I still think he can come back and I hope the tid bits that have come out that he is working on somthing is true and I will love it!
