Concert Summary

There have been quite a few high profile events to commemorate the legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival, but one of the most interesting occurred when many of the original musicians converged in Long Island's Parr Meadows in Brookhaven, NY to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Unlike later events, this was a true 10-year reunion for many of the musicians who played the 1969 festival. Among others, the audience heard performances by the likes of Richie Havens, John Sebastian, Stephen Stills, Leslie West, Jorma Kaukonen, Johnny Winter, Canned Heat, and the Rick Danko/Paul Butterfield Band. i saw tuna a lot at the academy and palladium in nyc....then i saw jorma and bob steeler electric at the palladium after tuna split.no bass...no keyboards...that was wild !!!! then jorma/white gland /vital parts....pretty lame...i was at the par meadow show....it was the woodstock reunion. at a raceway on long island. real violent....bad bikers kickin hippie ass. pretty good show...by that time jorma was toast...hot tuna never regained the intensity of the 70's.....never....i've seen em a lot...i saw jormas 70th at the beacon...that was a great show, but the other musicians carry jorma. jack still rocks....jorma is great now at what he does ...its just mellow.....i have boots of the mid 70's shows in new york...those were the best !!

jorma is one of the great guitarists and underrated songwriters in american music/there are bright shards of brilliance in this garage raunch/just another turn down the road for one of the most successful and enduring musical careers any man could wish for

This was a pitiful event. Pagan bikers prancing onstage during this set, Stills sitting on bandstand, slumped over guitar, waifting smoke from burning trash and paraquat weed. Leslie West was excited, but bad vibe doesn't begin to tell.

Jorma has always been my favorite guitar player and I truly loved this stage of his career, even if it was withuot Jack. I call it his punked-out Hot Tuna jam. Bob Steeler and Denny Boredom pushed him to new creations that will forever rock.

Just another phase in Jorma's incredible career. It sure beats playing the same thing the same way day in and day out.
