Concert Summary

The British blues-rock scene of the 1960s and '70s certainly has a lot to thank John Mayall for. He remains the godfather of that movement and provided the breeding ground for some of the biggest artists ever to emerge from the U.K., including Eric Clapton, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Jack Bruce, Aynsley Dunbar, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser (of Free), John Almond, Jon Mark, and many others.

Had it not been for John Mayall, the Rolling Stones would never have had its blues-bedrock, and Cream and Fleetwood Mac may never have formed. Ironically, his legacy…entire summary

I'd love to see the vault locate and provide some Mayalls shows from the 68-70 era. Man that stuff is heavenly. Nothing like burning some down and Mayall/Green/Fleetwood/Mac to take you away in rapture. Long live Johnny Mayall.

It's strange how much Mississippi Delta work songs[ the blues] have, and still, affect mainstream music. "Parchman Farm" for example. "Parchman" is the state prison in the delta.I suppose being there would give anyone the blues.

I saw Mayall at The Bottom Line in 1979. Last weekend, I again saw him at Jackpot Junction in Morton, MN. He still puts on a fantastic show!

Mayall owns some fine English soul. He walked onstage at Honolulu Concert Hall wearing nothing but cut-offs.No shoes or shirt. By himself. And got it on with his harp. Of course Fleetwood and Mac would be right out in a flash along with Mic Taylor. This was 1980 or so. Maybe 81 For solid blues and excellent professional get the job done while having some fun this was totally the best. Unrehearsed show organized in a day or two because they were all on Maui and had some history to review. Slammin-jammin-entertainment.

Mayall is great; love the blues! But don’t you think John Mayall and the Blues Breakers might be appropriate to list as Related Concerts?

I had to sit through Alice Cooper's opening act to see Mayall, who had Larry Taylor-bass (Canned Heat) and Harvey Mandel (who I had always wanted to see)with him. What a line up! This was in the early '70's. Thanks Vault for another great treat!!!-jan In TEXAS
