saw him at folk city in greenwich village, NYC bout 35 years ago, inspired me to listen to more of the blues roots ! He still has tremendous musical fire in him after all these years. his album - wicked grin- where he sings all the songs written by tom waits, is easy-- one of the all time best blues recordings of all time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw him the following year, in December, opening for the Allman Brothers Band in Richmond, VA, at the Coliseum. Man! To see him solo, getting 10,000 people to listen to an acoustic opening act was SOMEthing!
