Concert Summary

Joe Walsh is one of the lucky few contemporary rock stars that has been able to balance successful residencies in two major bands (The James Gang and The Eagles); a respectable and platinum level solo career; and the ability to work as a musical collaborator for pals like Ringo Starr and ELP's Carl Palmer.

This concert, recorded in 1981, is a partial set of…entire summary

My uncle recorded this show off the radio years ago. The radio broadcast has some things on it that this doesn't. First off, Joe introduces the band lineup. Joe Vitale and Russ Kunkle on flute, percussion, drums, ect. George "Chocolate" Perry on bass. Michael Murphy on keyboards. The band also performed the song "You Never Know" from the new album at the time. Curious why it is not listed?
It is a really cool tune and has a great bassline. Nonetheless, this is a great live show. One of my fav king biscuit shows. Tony

I saw this same tour at blossom music center in cleveland, and there were two drummers with joe vitale playing flute on a couple tunes. the second drummer isn't credited above - cleveland's own jimmy fox maybe? can anybody confirm this? i can hear two drummers/perc on this recording so i'm pretty sure another is there. one of the most memorable drum solos i've ever seen - blew my mind as the two drummers kept flipping there drum sticks to each other as they played!!!

Joe Walsh a true American troubadour! One of the best guitar players to have ever walked the earth!

If you want to see some classic Joe Walsh with the Eagles, get the Houston Summit 1977 DVD "Hotel California" (not official release). It is outrageous! Joe is just outstanding fun to watch, with his funny expressions worked into incredible guitar playing and style. The power he puts into his vocals is an 11 on a scale of 10. And watching him in action with the vocal tube device is just killer.
FYI - on Glenn Frey's website, there are a few tracks from the infamous Long Night at Wrong Beach concert (the last Eagles concert July 31 1980) that are credited to Wolfgang's Vault ... so Wolfgang has some more goodies to cut loose.
now ... off to find some more Joe Walsh after hearing this killer show!

Joe Walsh was better without the Eagles. Vitale kicks Henley's butt. And the Eagles were better with Bernie Leadon and Don Felder. And Randy Meisner for that matter.

This freaking cool dude from Oklahoma living in .......Bezerkley and partners in "the Bab" (soon to be Longbranch) shoved the James Gang album in my face one day when I got home. I'm saying wtf???? And I was force fed my first side. Can you imagine the Eagles without this guy??!! Lost in the dust.....maybe .....who knows......... but this guy puts guitar into rock......or as he might say.....keep sucking in.......don't waste any effort.......just suck........or snort.....or just freaking get on with it.........Don't qoute me on this

Saw him at ChicagoFest back in the day, and just a couple of years ago at the IL State Fair.
    STILL in prime form.
