Concert Summary

Joe Walsh is one of the lucky few contemporary rock stars that has been able to balance successful residencies in two major bands (The James Gang and The Eagles); a respectable and platinum level solo career; and the ability to work as a musical collaborator for pals like Ringo Starr and ELP's Carl Palmer.

The guitarist for Mott the Hoople was Mick Ralphs, who left in 1973 to form Bad Company. Joe's band Barnstorm toured the U.S. with MTH in 1972 when Mott was promoting their "All The Young Dudes" LP. He is mentioned in Ian Hunter's published diary of the tour. Joe was considered as a replacement for Peter Frampton after he left Humble Pie in 1971 but Joe respectfully declined. By the way, there is an excellent soundboard recording of the reunited James Gang from Feb. 25, 2001 at the Allen Theatre in Cleveland, OH that you can listen to on YouTube. Joe is in excellent form and the James Gang hasn't lost a beat despite the 30 years of separation.

I can't find the album "But Seriously Folks" anywhere. Why? It's Theme From Boat Weirdos I want most, plus a couple others.

If I had a chance, at the point when my father's sperm got through all of them hurdles that mi mum put in front of it,and when conception took place;I'd take that chance to be a guitar player and a musician ,called Joe Walsh. Alas, that was not to be,and, will never be. So let me,Wolfgang, keep accessing concerts such as this one. Listening to this has made my otherwise brilliant weekend, more brilliant. From Paul of Shefield,England. It's 22.24hrs here.Oooooh, them there chords.......,,,,

Excellent show! I saw Walsh on this tour in 1981 at the Oakland Coliseum Arena, and he had two drummers, Joe Vitale and Russ Kunkel. In fact, during Funk #49 (I think) they would toss their drum-sticks to each other, catch them in motion and keep playing! Amazing! It's a shame that only Vitale made the credits on this show...

To gatestudios: That's Joe Vitale on flute and drums(not at the same time, of course) Joe Vitale is one of the all time studio greats. He's played countless sessions with Joe Walsh, The Eagles, Steve Stills, etc. He put out a great album years ago called "Plantation Harbor" with Joe Walsh, The Eagles(backup singers),etc. on it. Check it out!!

For those of you whom have seen Joe Walsh during the time of this concert, did he have a person doing Flute for "theme from boat weirdos" or was it just keyboards? Sounds like a flute to me, but....
