Concert Summary

In the late 1970s, three British songwriters challenged the punk-scene and helped usher in the new wave sound: Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, and Joe Jackson. Like Costello and Parker, Jackson's lyrics were intelligent and brimming with creative wit and like his counterparts, he had a killer band that was critical in developing his sound. The lineup was simple: piano, guitar, bass, and drums, but the results were…entire summary

Great entertainer. I saw him do a show with Todd Rundgren once a few years ago. They traded verse/chorus on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps.' Incredible.

He reunited his original band a few years ago, '04 or '05. They made an album of original material (Volume 4) and did a tour. Both were excellent.

This is a good one - I, too saw JJ many times and he was always worthy. Also loved the "Big World" band with Graham and Vinnie Zummo but the original is still the best. Used to run into Larry Tolfree during my stay in London and loved the jumpin'jive thing too. Joe always was unafraid to do/say just what he wanted to. Gotta love that.Makes you long for the days of A&M, Atlantic, Stax,Motown etc. before they were beholden to corporate interests when artists were developed and allowed to create and.....oh sorry, I forgot to take my rose coloured glasses off.

I loved early Joe. Was in NYC in '80 and he was in town. I was psyched until I got to the show and everybody was telling me that he was only doing his new album (Jumping Jive). I was crushed! That '40's stuff is OK (I suppose), but I wanted to see classic Joe!
I did get to see the right show, altho it was 25 years later. He did a reunion tour with this original line-up played the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. They did all his early classics, many of the ones from this show. I was hoarse from singing along by the time it ended. Don't stop rockin' Joe!

Love this era of Joe Jackson!!
I live in the Chicago area and WXRT broadcast a JJ concert from this tour - it was amazing! I listened to the tape I made of the broadcast until it got ate by the deck... This show is not that concert, but my Gawd! Listen to Graham Maby and the rest of the band cook. I saw Joe in 2003 and he was a bit more subdued, but this guy is a terrific musician and his band at this point in time rocked with something fresh.
