Kicking off with a high energy, piano-driven instrumental jam, Joe Cocker and his backing band brings down the house at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia back in '76. This show, recorded originally for broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour, is a nearly hour and a half long set of Cocker favorites and tracks off his most recent album, Stingray.

Stingray was an attempt by Cocker to mix reggae music with his signature bluesy rock sound, and the songs included here from that new album include "I Broke Down," "Catfish," "The Jealous Kind," and "A Song For You," among…entire summary

hey cocker rocker: wow, finally found someone who knows who or what stuff was. bought the album on a whim, and loved it (wonder if it was helped by the young lady on the front dunking a basketball). anyrate, i loaned the album to someone years ago, then took one hit of pot, and it was gone. been searching ebay and various other sites to find it (i'm still turntable enabled). seems you and i are the only folks to know about it, so if you've an outlet to info as to where i could find this album (don't imagine it's on cd) without spendind a zillion dollars, i'd appreciate it. i'm at abnermallity@yahoo.com. thanks

Stuff was one of my favorite bands during the 70's and 80's. They were the finest jazz/rock studio musicians of that era. Many popular artists of the era used them on their records. Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, Joe Cocker, Art Garfunkel, Ray Charles, Grover Washington, George Harrison, etc. The late Eric Gale Guitar, the late Richard Tee Keyboards, Steve Gadd Drums, Cornell Dupree Guitar, and big Gordon Edwards on Bass. Checki out their newly released DVD and CD "Live At Montraux", recorded in 1976. Joe Cocker had some serious booze problems when this recording was made, and it amazes me that he was able to get through it. He is so much more in controll these days and sounds much better at 65 years old. Love his rendition of "Jealous Kind", and his jazzed up version of "Space Captain", during this show. Vintage stuff. Thanks Vault for bringing back so many memories.

Joe Cocker with Stuff. Great !!!! I dug the shit out of Stuff. Use to go to NTC just to see them in the 70's.

Re:Benabz comment about horns - check out the Prince's Trust show, only two tunes but the version of the old Boxtops tune, "The Letter" that night is outstanding w/ full-on horns! S.S.S.S.MOKIN'

Unbelievably good. Sadly for me this line up never made it over to Europe. These were just the best session guys around at the tine - Eric Gale and Richard Tee sadly no longer with us. Although from the "soul fraternity" these cats could rock.

Having been to the Tower Theater, I would only add this trivial footnote: my ticket to see the Replacements there circa '86-'87 read "Tower Theater, Upper Darby, PA" and they were damn proud to make the distinction 'tween Upper Darby and Philly. Anyway, killer show! Will have to agree w/ Benabz, horns would have taken this into the stratosphere.....

Amir FaSaad, I just found this on the 'help' section: When will you begin streaming your concert video archives? By 2009 we hope to present never-before-seen live performance video in the Concert Vault from the thousands of concert videos we have in our archive. We are also working to add concert videos from our newest catalogs.
