Concert Summary

This run of Jimi Hendrix concerts at Winterland, with Dino Valenti and then Buddy Miles Express opening, produced some of the most interesting Hendrix sets ever recorded. In mid-1968, just as he was releasing his monumental Electric Ladyland LP, Hendrix began actively and fervently pursuing opportunities to jam with other musicians. Classic Jimi Hendrix Experience...can never get enough!

Jimi Hendrix created a totally unique sound with his guitar and a completely unique style all his own. I never had the opportunity to hear him live. I have often wondered what effect he would have had on race relations in that turbulent period. Jimi was not a black man, I was not a white man. We were part of the same culture. Hippies had no color. I can't help but think his influence would have had a major impact in the fight for equality. The world is a better place because he lived in it.

No one can touch Jimi to this day=-plenty of imitators (SRV/Robin Trower/Eric Gale/Jon Butcher etc) but nothing compares to the originator.ALong with Cream,THE original power trio

I was born Nov 9, 1970 and Jimi died Sept 18, 1970....I was not there to experience the vibe but I could tell you everytime I insert anyone of his CD/DVD's into one of my music players, Oh there is a vibe like I was there! He will always remain the BEST EVER! TODAY, MOnday morning Aug 17 Jimi stood onstage at Woodstock 40 years ago and changed music history with that 6-banger!!! God Bless Jimi.

My only claim to fame is that I lived on Main St, Saugerties NY for 15 years and was able to walk to Woodstock 94. Rosie started me at 400/mo in 93 and ended at 560/mo in 2007 when I went to help with Katrina in MS.. Passed by the the Big Pink House many a time when visiting friends. Never saw Bob Dylan though. Refinanced Levon Helm's SUV as a finance manager at Johnson Ford in Kingston NY. Also signed up Rick Danko for his lease buyout. God rest his soul. All the beautiful people are going away unfortunately. At 51 I made it past Joe Strummer but hoping to meet Jerry's 53. Drambuie on the rocks with a Corona chaser will be my choice of medication. I cried for the the death of my hero, Les Paul, the father of amplified jazz and rock. Keep on Trucking.

We were there!!! So glad to finally hear a concert that we went to. My best friend, Kathy, and I were only fifteen and had already seen Hendrix twice in Feb. 1968. We had gone to Winterland both Friday and Saturday nights. Another friend, Steve H. and I met Hendrix between sets standing in the cement ramps between the balcony and bottom floor. Surprisingly, I wrote in my diary for Oct 11. 1968, Hendrix wasn't that fantastic?? I guess I liked the Feb. 1968 concerts more. So glad I met Hendrix before he died. And, YES, it was him that we met. We went up to the stage in the 2nd set to verify. He said he would open the 2nd set with "Red House" and that's what he did. Doreen from Castro Valley

Sometimes I feel like I came from a UFO. On Thursday I went to Blockbuster and went through the whole Action section A-Z. Nothing until I hit "W", "Woodstock". Said to myself, "Well, you are 52 years old now, 40 years ago you were playing this music on the school bus with your panasonic cassette player, getting everybody to sing along with Country Joe and the Fish. What do you think of it now, self?" I took the DVD, put it in my laptop that I have hooked up to altec lansing speakers with woofer, kicked back in my perfect chair at about 30 degrees, and couldn't stop watching it until the very end. No wonder I cried when Jimi died.
