Concert Summary

With one of the most compelling and soothing voices of the 1960s, Jesse Colin Young began his career as a folksinger on the coffeehouse circuit of Greenwich Village. After releasing two solo albums in 1964 and 1965, he met up with Cambridge guitarist Jerry Corbitt and along with multi-instrumentalist Lowell "Banana" Levenger and drummer Joe Bauer, formed the Youngbloods in 1966. My mother used to take me to concerts that I wanted to see before I could drive. We saw the Youngbloods & Paul Butterfield Blues Band in Lenox Mass. There were no seats there at the time, just a nice grassy hill facing the stage. I was in Hippy Heaven that nice sunny afternoon! The only bummer was i couldn't get a toke off of any of the weed floating around because mom would have freaked out. I'm sure we caught a little contact high anyway heh heh.

This is an incredible concert. I love Jesse Colin Young's and bands interpretations of well known songs, giving them a new spirit. I had several of their albums back in the day and loved them. What a soothing voice and so full of life. They seemed to have such a great time playing together. One of my best memories is driving in an RV in the 80's thru INdiana with a full moon listening to Ride the Wind album. If I was a coffee drinker I would buy some of his coffee. Hopefully I will be abel to see the band again. Thanks for posting this excellent music. In gratitude, Smokey
