Concert Summary

More than any other album of the era, Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow would come to define the emerging San Francisco sound, with its psychedelic fusion of folk, pop, rock, and blues elements. This album, which first entered the charts at the tail end of March 1967, would signal a vibrant musical shift in America, where the lines between musical genres began blurring forever.

So grateful to be able to listen to this 45 years later! Much thanks to Bill Graham and WolfgangsVault for keeping this magic alive, and of course the Airplane!

Wicked version of Don't Slip Away, alot more heavy and psychedelic much like Surrealistic Pillow. AMAZING SOLO! Tobacco Road starts at normal pace then it seems Spencer speeds it up and then it settles back down when Jorma comes in..cool moment.

Jorma and Jack represent one of the best guitar/bass combinations and have always been an underrated duo. I think Jorma made the Airplane what is was.

Great sound for almost 44 years ago...Balin was strong and no crappy notes from the band so looks like this early excitement pre-dated some of the repetition-of-material factors of later concerts, or maybe they were taking less acid in March than they were later in the year. Either way...good stuff.

jeez! amped up and crankin! I loved it...such energy as opposed to their "pretty" recordings: completely different band. Jorma is just tearing it up. I repeat: I loved it! thanks WGV people!
