Concert Summary

1967 was a whirlwind year for Jefferson Airplane. "Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit" were monumental hits and the Surrealistic Pillow album had penetrated way beyond San Francisco, earning the band a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Grace Slick was becoming an icon in the media and the band was a staple of the rock press, especially Rolling Stone, which launched that Fall. Very cool show. Worth it just for the funky "Other Side of This Life". Just picture yourself in a small club watching the Airplane and they're just playing the hell out of everything. Bathing at Baxters is my favorite Airplane album (yes, they're still albums to me) and this show has most of the tunes from it. Thanks Wolfgangs Vault. This is a real treat. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Since When does Balin play Bass? Are there other instances of this? What was Kantner doing during Fat Angel?

WOW, I don't have this and it's essential for a true fan of the band. My 1st ever concert, 2 months after my 16 birthday was Jefferson Airplane, in Kansas City, Mo. (05_09_1969). It was a great show, and I was a big fan at the time. I would have loved to have been one of the few in attendence at this one. Thanks for making this available in FLAC, I hate paying for MP3.

It seems that the JA was in the cusp of being a folk rock band and a hard rock acid band. The folky songs have a light touch, which was not seen later on.

YES, and Yes -- here you have JA, in ELEMENT... a living room, intimate environment. BTW, this venue held a maximum of 120 people (beyond the dozen beauties backstage VERY spun). Dig "Ice Cream" a few times... dig Gracie's vibrato (control power, anyone?) Love to all make LOVE... NOW!

THis is the Best Airplane show in the vault, and I've listened to all of them! '68 was great. But then again I love the Tiny Tim concert too!
