Concert Summary

The late October 1966 Jefferson Airplane Fillmore recordings are fascinating historical documents, capturing the band just days before they began recording their classic Surrealistic Pillow album, right at the transition point when Grace Slick joined the group. This early February 1967 run, a mere three months later, is perhaps even more interesting, as it captures the band within days of that album's release.

The only show with DCBA is 11.25.66 which I believe is when they were recording SP.

I agree with Spudwas and Anonymous: nice set, but how about some other acts, please. I've been thinking that it would be nice to hear, if possible, what an entire evening at the Fillmore would have sounded like, from the opening acts to the main attraction. In general, however, I would like to hear more diversity. Bill Graham was legendary for bringing jazz, blues, rock, r&b, bluegrass, and performers of so many other genres together at these Fillmore shows. Surely, the Vault can provide more than the Airplane and the Dead playing the same tired sets over and over again - fine for the died hard fans of those bands, but what about those of us who visit this site to hear that what's not already out there in tape trade circles and official releases. What about some others who played the Fillmore, such as Charles Lloyd, Otis Rush, Chuck Berry, Moby Grape, Love, Oxford Circle, Captain Beefheart, Chocolate Watch Band, Bo Diddley, John Mayall, H.P. Lovecraft, Mad River, Spirit, etc. I could go on. And while I'm going on, how about this for a whole show: New Year's Eve 1969/1970 at the Olympic Auditorium, Bill Graham presenting: Lee Michaels, the Youngbloods, Taj Mahal, and Love! Please unearth some real hidden gems, not the same old sets from the same old bands! Thank you.

Another nice JA set, but now that you have posted all the sets from this and a couple of other runs how about some of the other acts on those bills. I would love to hear any of Moby Grapes sets. I hope they were not just taping JA back then! Thanks

What's the point of posting all this music that can't really be enjoyed? Wolfgang's Vault does not deliver a quality audio stream. I've recorded this show three times and the stream always breaks up terribly on the same songs. I believe it's intentional. My point isn't that I'm trying to record it for private use. My point is that the music can't even be listened to without massive dropouts, clicks, snaps and pauses. I listen to music on plenty of other sites and have no problem. When I first discovered this site the delivered a good stream. The do not do that anymore.

Absolutely the sweet sound of 60's rock... "High Flying Bird" took me along for the ride. Just love this era of music. Check-out the new Grateful Dead release too. 3-18-67... Thanks WGV for sharing this wonderful music (and I was just an infant when all this was happening). Great art is timeless and this proves it once again...
