The recording quality is a bit hard on the ears...but it is Jeff Beck & John McLaughlin...so I'll live with it.

I think my favorite song from this concert is 'Got the Feeling.' I keep listening to it over and over. I think I'd like to make a cd with various versions of this song, from the studio recording with Bob Tench's vocals to the different live performances on this site and elsewhere on the internet. "...Aint no good when you're all alone/Life's a never-ending road..."

I was in high school and read a review of "Blow By Blow" in either Circus or Creem. Knowing very little about Beck, I hitchhiked to my local record store, bought the record and it changed my life forever. My love of fusion; then jazz and blues stemmed from this experience. The willingness to listen to all different types of music and genres was influenced by my discovery of Beck, who remains my favorite guitarist to this day. I first saw him live at the Pinecrest in Shelton, CT on the "Wired" tour in 1976 (I remember being knocked out by "Freeway Jam" and his use of the talk-box on "She's A Woman"). Beck was fabulous this year at the MGM Grand - Foxwoods. All of his records are great and recently I have been looking for more footage of his days with The Yardbirds and the original Jeff Beck Group. This concert sounds great and his playing remains timeless. There was no one else playing like this at the time (except maybe Roy Buchanan who was more bluesy), which means Beck essentially defined the genre of instrumental jazz-rock guitar.

McLaughlin is awesome. Imagine having the guts to get onstage with Jeff Beck when he is already warmed up.
