Concert Summary

One couldn't ask for more from a live vintage James Taylor recording. Not only are the recordings themselves excellent quality, but these two benefit concerts capture Taylor right smack dab in the middle of the Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon LP recording sessions. James mentions that the proceeds from these benefits would be directed toward American Indian related charities. This is 1970, awhile before "Native American" became politically correct.

As with the late show, this early set begins solo…entire summary

this show, this music, this man, is transcendant. there is never a song that doesn't take my breath, no matter how often or rarely i've heard it.

James Talor has had some bumps in life, but all of us have. To me, he is still one of the greatest artists ever.

Killer Good. Had I forgotten what JT is all about?

I find it striking how his cover of "From my friends" sounds like one of his own songs when played in his inimitable style. And his finger picking is so fine too.

I've seen JT 26 times, beginning in 1979. I'm from Chicago, and he didn't travel much to the midwest until them. This concert, and all of Wolfgangs' concerts are a treasure to me. And as a guitar player I can hear the suddle difference, better, then the later years after a couple of hand injuries. He's still great, obviously, but it's the little things I really appreciate about these early '70s concerts. Great stuff. And w/Lee and Russ, and Danny of course...THE JT band, so great. Recently Russ has toured w/JT, and it really means a lot. All of his drummers and musicians are great. But Russ really has JT down, as he did Fogelburg and others. Really enjoyable concert, and I've seen a ton of JT shows.
