Concert Summary

Jack Bruce has always been an adventurous musician and a supreme innovator. Whether he is the greatest electric bass player of all time is open to debate, but his influence on the course of the instrument and its role within modern music cannot be denied. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and composer, who has worked extensively in the context of jazz, blues, and rock 'n' roll, Bruce has always pushed himself into uncharted waters, refusing to be pinned down to any one genre. Rooted not on only in jazz and the blues, Bruce also studied the classical works of Schubert and Bach,…entire summary

Jack is on the better vocal form here than in any recorded concert since Cream broke up, and I have heard them all. In fact he sounds in as strong voiced as he did in those great days of '66-'68/

I first saw Jack Bruce in the early 60's when he was playing with Ginger Baker in the Graham Bond Organisation. He was brilliant then & I'm pleased/relieved? nothing's changed. Thanks for the memories, wolfgang.

This is a good concert, but , for my ears, just dosen't have the "raw" bite of those Cream offerings..still, the line up of side men is impressive.

For the dude that commented on the hot Bottom Line show with Bruce, Cobham, Clempson and Sancious there is a CD of the WNEW broadcast that exists... I know because I bought it online a few years back but it's missing the encore featuring N.S.U. I was at the show the night before and the next night WNEW broadcasts the performance which was rockin' and drenched in fusion napalm. Sancious' guitar break during "Theme From An Imaginary Western" (Guitarist Clempson moved to bass and Bruce manned the keyboards) is one of the most passionate and deep solos I've ever heard. Just an amazing concert by four masters at the top of their game.

Actually the promoters name is John Scher. Too bad King Biscuit only recorded two songs.

One of many, many great shows at the Capitol. Promoter's name was John Sher (only 1 "e"). He was THE major promoter of NJ shows in the 70's and early 80's.
