  • toledo slim Thursday, February 16, 2012 8:56 am i'm surprised a san fran audience knew how to groove and party to a band like this. maybe it's cloudy memory but it doesn't seem as lively as the shows i saw in detroit
  • Anonymous Tuesday, February 14, 2012 10:24 am Great clip makesme want to suck on somebodys gums!!! I caught the JG Bandin Baltimore with Little feat and JethroTull ...last thing I remember was chairs being thrown and some cute babe grabbin my ass...the rest is history..........
  • gtrfreek Tuesday, February 14, 2012 9:47 am Saw them several times at Winterland, including this show. Truly fine live act - they left it all on the stage. Wolf was one of the best frontmen in rock. Seth Justman's Hammond blew my face out! For any doubters of this band's prowess, I have two words - Magic Dick.
  • Anonymous Monday, February 13, 2012 8:34 pm The J. Geils Band was without question one of the best live acts ever to grace a stage. I still maintain "Blow Your Face Out" is the standard by which live albums should be judged. My son (a college freshman) will testify to the energy of the J. Geils Band live. Is this Winterland video available as a complete show? As someone else posted, the Monkey Island tracks makes me think it was post-BYFO. I know Peter Wolf is still (somewhat) active with somewhat more sedate (although still high quality, just a more aged energy level) material - is anyone else?
  • fustercluck Monday, February 13, 2012 8:06 pm ok kids, and WV, thanks for posting up The JGB, the first band i ever saw live and again, like Mukkie, saw them in NJ, but it was the Embassy Hall, in North Bergen, with the band The Blues Project, and as I was already a music junkie, this show turned me into a live music junkie. Back in NB, back in the day, my friends were dropping like flies from messing with shit, and one of the ones I miss the most, little Mikey F, well Geils was his favorite band and we'd see them whenever and wherever we could. Miss Geils, miss Mike and all those that passed at that time. Too many, and much much too young. Thanks WV, again , for bringing back the memories, some indeed bittersweet, but thanks nonetheless. Happy Valentines Day tomorrow to the gang at Wolfgangs.
  • scrapmetal Monday, February 13, 2012 4:09 pm by todays standards, this video footage is terrible.By 70's standards (ever see a complete Zep show besides SOng Remains the same which cost mucho $ to make-doubt it),not bad.AUdio is impeccable. However, was this the Blow your face out tour? Not sure due to inclusion of Monkey Island tracks.....btw JGB rates with Springsteen,Stones (who they opened for),etc as one of rocks all time best performers and concert values...too bad they ended so soon
  • Roger from Oz Tuesday, November 08, 2011 12:31 pm Thanks to those of you that pointed out the missing videos. We have made the proper adjustments and these videos should now be available. Cheers, WV
  • mausco Tuesday, November 08, 2011 1:23 am This is one of my favorite tunes of all-time! I was ten (10) when my brother bought us BOTH a copy of their first live album. So, if yer old enough to remember when you first heard, the ORIGINAL '72 J. Geils Band LP, "LIVE! - Full House," how could we forget that the band on that record was BALLS-ON, FULL-TILT from start to finish!! "Whammer Jammer, Lemme Hear Ya, Dick-ya..." It somewhat lacks the "punch" of the "Full-House" performance, but lemme tell you, brothers and sisters...but like "Anonymous" posted, and there's NO SHAME in his comment, if you were there at Cobo Hall back in '72, this is prob'ly ALMOST what you witnessed from your beer-stained seat! If you weren't there, you don't have to imagine 'no mo'! The J. Geils Band was one of the most ASS-KICKIN' live acts EVER to leave their mark on stage, and here, there, and everywhere, "Magic Dick" proves he can stand with the best of 'em! ROCK AND ROLL, INDEED!!!

  • Anonymous Monday, November 07, 2011 7:01 pm Sorry folks, but if you never saw J. Geils at Cobo Hall, you never saw the Geils.
  • mukkkie Monday, November 07, 2011 3:57 pm Believe it or not, I saw this tour open for Kiss at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City in '76...So glad there's a double album "Blow Your face Out" to re live it often...
  • dirkinioway Monday, November 07, 2011 4:25 am Saw this tour in Iowa City, IA and was blown away by the energy and enthusiasm of the band. To this day, one of my all time favorite concerts. Thanks for posting this.
