  • El Caballero Grande | Friday, June 26, 2009 | 11:42 am

Greatest live band in the world, this is what rock and roll is all about!!! Saw them open up for Stones and watched them blow the Glimmer Twins away! Not a tough task as Peter Tosh did the same...

Think you seen it all? Brothers and Sisters, I have decided to CALL YOU!! and tell you what a J. Geils House Party is all about!! This is Woofa Goofa wid da Green Teeth and I was at Frank Marino, Atlanta Rhythm Section and J, Geils was a slipping sliding the Detroit Shuffle in the summer of 1975!! At Shannondougha Downs Race Track in West Virginia of all places. Only bout 3000 folks made it into the mountains and down to the race track infield, it was truly an intimate show. The New York Dolls canceled (recent press explains why and who really cared), then I had the audacity to grab them live with BOC, someone slipped me a little M.R. Natural and Woofa Goofa blew what was left of my mind. Sorry kids of nowadays, you gonna have to make a trip to Monkey Island to ever see that sort of RnR again!!

Just saw the Geils Band again for the first time in 10 years. Saw them at the HOB in Boston in Feb, then at the Fillmore in Detroit last month. STILL the greatest rock and roll band of all time. Untill you've seen the Geils Band, Magic Dick blowing and Wolf dancing prancing, and romancing all over the stage you havent seen anything. Dont care who it is, Stones, ZZ top, Aerosmith, they all pale in comparison to theMIGHTY J. GEILS BAND

hippie you said it all in one sentence..."The kids today have no idea of what a great live show is without J.Geils touring". They are so far above any other band it's not even funny. I wish they could live forever to set the standard for everyone else. On second thought, scratch that idea, cause we'd be up there and they'd still be down here. Sorry future generations, but they're coming with us.
