Concert Summary

Following iconic blues guitarist Albert King and proceeding Edgar Winter's White Trash in their prime was certainly no easy task, but this set finds the J. Geils Band quite capable of rising to the occasion. According to Bill Graham's autobiography, this group was among his favorite bands ever presented at Fillmore East and this set captures them performing at a raging ferocity level few bands could match.

The adrenalin level is obvious from the opening "New York City Breakdown" (also known as "Sno-Cone") and remains hot and volatile through the entire set. After continuing with the…entire summary

New Year's Eve Concert at Mohegan Sun in CT.............2009 rocks!!

Historical correction: The J. Geils Band was the second act of the evening, following Albert King and preceding Edgar Winter's White Trash. Then Mountain, Beach Boys, Country Joe (who wasn't on the bill), and the Allmans. Edgar Winter's band played on Mountain's equipment that night.

Seen em in '78 at soldiers field in Chicago "Super Bowl of Rock". The Headliner was ELP and there were about 4 or 5 bands. J Geils came on before Foghat in the line up and blew em off the stage. Peter Wolf had a fog hat cap on and took it off and stomped on it. Also, it was very hot and he had a fire hose and was spraying the audience with water. There was about 80,000 in attendance

Sheesh! I envy all you people in the States-I live in Australia, got into the band via "Full House" in 1980 (in my top 5 live albums along with Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out, Live At Leeds, Allmans At Fillmore & Made In Japan)but they never toured, even during the "centrefold' period.

Comedy wise, remember the Mr. Roger's bit about tins of tuna, movin' that piana that is the worse, and much too early for that. If you can remember that just say OK

First Saw Band at UNC Chapel Hill outdoor concert in 1971. Never heard of J Geils Band before then. Show was unbelievable. The band opened for Allman Brothers Band. Never heard of them either before the show. Have loved both bands ever since. Probably best concert I ever went to.
