Concert Summary

The J. Geils Band exploded like a flaming meteorite when they emerged in 1969 out of the thriving Boston club scene. They were quickly signed by Atlantic Records in 1970, and a series of strategic U.S. dates, such as the Fillmore East and West, the Electric Factory, and Detroit's Cobo Hall, cemented the rumor that the J. Geils Band was, indeed, the hottest live band in America. By the time the original line-up splintered in 1983, they had scored a number of hit albums and singles, and…entire summary

Thanks for posting this! I've seen them 10 times and was at this show. Just saw them twice last year in Boston and Bangor Maine with horn section and backup singers they were great!

Don't believe the review....Monkey Island and Sanctuary are both better than Hot Line. No 'creative lull' there (that would happen in the 80s). Long live J.Geils! Looking forward to catching them in Boston @ Fenway!!!!!

saw this tour Dec 5th in Charleston , WV (I kept all my tickets from back in the day and they are in a couple frames in my living room)with Manfred Mann's Earth Band "Blinded By The Light" was hot, Edgar Winter then J Geils blew the roof off - a GREAT performance! Thanks for the memories!

I saw them - one of my first concerts December 5, 1975 so this is 6 weeks prior - they were great - touring with Manfred Mann's Earth Band "Blinded By The Light" was on the charts and Edgar Winter played right before J Geils - what a show - I remember it well in Charleston, WV - the old civic center - Thanks for the memories! Doak in Nashville!

The 70's in Detroit would not of been the same without the J. Geils Band. Cobo Hall in the winter and Pine Knob in the summer. Would see them whenever they came. Sometimes for not just one show but two.

I have every J. Geils band album produced--we used to get off work at midnight, pick up a case of beer and drive around in the country listening to 8 tracks of the J. Geils band.
