Upon one listen to this rare and well captured recording of It's A Beautiful Day in their late '60s prime, it is clear just how innovative and cutting edge they were as a rock group. They were indicative of the times—a well balanced mix of intelligent lyrical themes, well versed musicality, and rock adventurism. Love IABD, but I don't think there is a guitar player in any of these June, '68 shows as is listed in the Concert Summary. Would love to hear some from IABD in the '69 era with Hal on guitar. And... how about putting some of these tunes up for download??? Especially any of the closing of the Fillmore shows.

i've always wondered if bands from this era were a bit more copyright conceus if they would have sued deep purple for theft of bombay calling or would a band like spirit have done the same with the intro to stairway to heaven if they new how huge those song were going to become?, great show though

A nice performance, featuring early versions of the IABD classics (White Bird, Bombay Calling and Hot Summer Day), but it doesn't match the 1972 official live album (It's a Beautiful Day at Carnegie Hall) and the smashing waooo San Francisco 07.01.71 concert you can hear on this very site, just a few clicks away !
