Concert Summary

After fronting acclaimed British rock 'n' roll band, Mott the Hoople for six years between 1969 and 1975, Ian Hunter launched a solo career that did not see the same commercial success as the band but certainly was every bit as good musically. Great live recording this one, Same songs as Welcome To The Club live album but nothing wrong with that, Seen him about 4 times and always brilliant, He can still write great songs too. Check out his last 2 Studio albums, Both up there with his best.

Saw them twice in 1979. In Philly they opened up for the Kinks at the Spectrum. The Kinks were touring with their Low Budget album at the time. General Admission was the name of the game in those days and my 20 friends an I were about 12th row center for this amazing show. The Hunter Band was simply scorching in their set and Ronno was blazing away in a rock and roll trance for 90 minutes. I had been preaching to my buddies for 4 years that this band was the definition of R&R and they finally believed me after Hunter and band wrapped up for the night. The Kinks had to be awesome after Hunter Band's set and they delivered on all fronts for another 2 hrs. of power rock. Having nexer seen the Kinks live I was surprised that they could crank out down and dirty music in the same vein as the Hunter Band. All in all, one of the best shows that I attended.

Had the pleasure of seeing Ian Hunter with the Cars and Head East at Rockford Speedway in 1979...God do I miss those super concerts and those days!!

I caught them a few times. So under rated. One of my favorite bands of all time. My brother seen them as a back up band for Queen in Waterbury ct. 1973 I think, I just missed that one by a year. Boy do I miss those days big time. The concert vault kicks ass. Memories do come back here.
