Concert Summary

This set by Hot Tuna, which they played as openers for the Grateful Dead on New Years Eve, before a hometown crowd, features the band right between the release of first and second albums. now that I know Will's story (thanks ronny 70!) I am even more impressed. This is his best "recorded" work. I have played harp w/ Jorma (he gave me the nickname "Screamin' Skull") but our recordings are nowhere this good. Thanks WGV!

willow scarlett the story goes followed early ht around the clubs and a autto mechanic by trade and making his own harps convinced jack and jorma to let him play and this particluar recording is the best display of his talents ive heard-obviously not a musician the level of jorma jack or papa john he is excellent but papa john basically was the electric in tuna -i remember always thinking he was the featured lead in electric tuna with jorma giving him all the space he needed-jorma even interviewed and said pj was so good that his talent was never fully displayed with ja and ht

Gonna see see Jorma with Dave Bromberg on the 1/27/10 in State College Pa. 33rd time seeing Jorma in many different line ups, from playing with Papa John to his punk phase with White Gland and Hidden Klitz!
If you don't know Jorma, you don't know Jack!!! Love you Guys!!!

I was too young back then (and not close to California) to have seen them, only have seen Hot Tuna and Jorma Kaukonen solo in recent decades. Still, this is really impressive.
