The Ash Grove will long be remembered as the West Coast epicenter of the traditional folk and blues revival of the late 1950s and early 1960s.     Hi Murphy's, Thanks for listening and I basically agree with you. The dark humor wasn't lost on me and I actually state that song achieves a humorous (yet disturbing) effect in the summary, which I stand by as a big part of it's charm. Should also point out that the title is "The CURSED Farmer's Wife," rather than "The CURED Farmer's Wife" and the very nature of being "cursed" tends to have a "sinister" element. That was my thought process. Regardless, happy to have you as a listener and I hope you enjoyed this set as much as I did. Best regards, Alan

    I have to disagree with Alan Bershaw's description of "The Cured farmer's Wife" as sinister. The devil carries her off and then returns her because she's too mean? That sounds like dark humor to me.
