Concert Summary

Sadly, much of this recording is damaged and many of the wonderful stories and anecdotes appear here in an incomplete form. While the quality of this recording is not up to Concert Vault standards, we have made an exception for this truly extraordinary event.

There is enough of Groucho's banter, his responses to questions from the audience, and popular Marx Brothers songs to get a good idea of what a remarkable celebrity he was. In 1972, at age 81, Marx was anything but retired. Although his film and TV career had pretty much ended more than a decade earlier (after the mid-1960s…entire summary

What a treat! I'm a long time Marx Brothers fan and lover of Groucho's fast paced word play. Too bad a full recording did not survive.

This is timeless. I stopeed working when this came across my computer and have just sat here and remembered just how much Groucho meant to me and how much I loved everything about his work. THe CArnegie Hall album is a great listen and if you can find it anywhere (I've had no luck) give yourself 2 hours to really sit back and enjoy it. Was hoping we would hear "Show me a Rose... and I'll show you a girl named Sam".. oh well... "It's better to run to Toronto...than to run to some place you dont vant to..."

Wonderful addition to the Vault. I, too, was at this show, and photography was permitted at that time. I shot B&W, and have some nice photos of Groucho in action :)

Woman: "I'm here to clean up." Groucho: "Just the woman I'm looking for."
