Concert Summary

In an effort to extend the reach of southern rock artists, the epicenter label, Capricorn Records, launched an ambitious European Tour toward the end of 1976. The tour featured an exciting triple bill of Grinderswitch, Bonnie Bramlett and the Marshall Tucker Band, three of the most respected Capricorn artists outside the Allman Brothers Band. Serving double duty on the tour was Grinderswitch, who not only kicked off the program each evening, but also served as the musicians for Bonnie Bramlett. I was fortunate to work for Polydor Records, Capricorn?s distributor in Germany that year and I will never forget Dru and his gang. One of the most lovable bunch of people I have ever met. I stayed in touch with Dru for many years and it broke my heart when he passed away. In these days I am a great fan of Blackberry Smoke from Atlanta. They?ve got the same attitude. Thanks Wolfgang for adding this great piece of music to the vault.God bless ya!

Nice to hear Dru and Stephen sing through the air waves once more!!! I was friends with the late, great Dru Lombar helping him revive Grinderswitch with some of his band bookings in 2004 before his passing in 2005!!! KEEP ON PICKIN' THE BLUES!!! ~Darrell wwww.mushproductions.net

I missed the boat with Grinderswitch in the 70's and 80's and I had it right in front of me . I had a group of friends in Baldwin Long Island who couldn't get enough of these guys and later became good friends with the band . I have now realized what I was missing and I am sorry I didn't listen to Harpo and Lucas in the first place . Keep them coming Wolfgang

This concert came as a real surprise to me. I had heard of Grinderswitch during their heyday, but I had not really heard them. Probably because they were overshadowed by Marshall Tucker and the Allman Brothers. On this particular night—especially the last three songs—they're really impressive!
