Concert Summary

Before making his T Bone Burnett-produced comeback in 2011, Allman Brothers Band leader and master of the Hammond B3 Gregg Allman lived a life devoted to playing music for five decades, during which he also lived through a wilderness year or two. Here we catch up with him post-'80s Allman Brothers reunion: It's the early '90s, and he's coming off his acting turn in the film Rush. He wasn't doing much solo recording at this stage, nor was he exactly at the top of his game when he put in this roughshod appearance at San Quentin Prison in Northern California.

i dont get the negative reviews. i think this is a great set. as far as someone saying they would have felt ripped off because he didnt have his keyboard. Ripped off? They are in prison. How could they have felt ripped off?

Ragged is the word, but if you love the man's music, then this still has huge appeal. He is always honest which more than can be said for many. Such a shame though, Gregg in St. Q ought to have been the dream ticket. Get him back there in 2011 & you'd have one helluva gig for sure.

A great concert for abb fans and anyone else that likes great music. Sound quality is steller once you upgrade to vip status on the vault. I have seen ABB many times and love a good warts and all style recording....
    4 stars......
