Greg Kihn

Though he was born in Baltimore, Maryland, Greg Kihn of the Greg Kihn Band, has been a significant member of the Bay Area music community for many years. Kihn moved to Berkeley in 1971 and quickly became immersed in the music scene. Still in his early 20s, he met Steve Wright, with whom he would make music with for the rest of his career. In 1976, he recorded his first LP, Greg Kihn Band for Beserkley Records. Over the next 10 years, he released 10 more albums, and his 1983 LP Kihnspiracy contained a No. 2 hit with "Jeopardy," which was famously spoofed by "Weird Al" Yankovic. He also hit No. 5 with 1981's "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)."

While the Greg Kihn Band is no longer making albums, Kihn continues to release solo albums and play concerts for his loyal, devoted fanbase. Aside from music, Kihn has written horror novels, like Horror Show, Shade of Pale, and Mojo Hand. Horror Show, his first novel, was even nominated for the prestigious Bram Stoker Award given out by the Horror Writers Association. He is also a popular DJ for Bay Area classic rock station KFOX.
