Concert Summary

After releasing a record a year from '76 to '82, Greg Kihn found his biggest hit LP with 1983's Kihnspiracy, which contained the hit "Jeopardy", as well as popular numbers "Talkin' To Myself" and "Tear That City Down." This show, recorded at his local hang-out, Wolfgang's in San Francisco, positions Kihn as one of the best live acts touring the US at that time. The comparisons to Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band were numerous, but Kihn was really a rockstar all on his own merit.

Greg Douglass is such a good player.I've been a fan since Country Weather used to tear up the Lafayette teen center.

I've got one for you. First Greg Douglass has always been one of the great players having never got the props. I was friends of the band at this time they were the headliners for a gig at the Longbranch in Berkley. The opener was Patti Smith for her first gig on the West Coast. She comes out, and the first words she says "Who the fuck is Greg Khin" I'll never forget it!! I still laugh my ass off"

I recorded this show off the radio in '83, have since recorded it to CD as this has been a favorite of mine !! I frequent this site alot, and am always mesmorized by the amount of "stuff" that is on here. Once again, ... THANK YOU !!! This recording brings some "life" to this show again !!

I used to but a lot of my records at Rather Ripped Records in Berkeley . Greg Kihn , Gary Phillips and other Berserkley Records musicians would hang out or even work there . It was the coolest record store , ever . Went in there once , and Patti Smith was in there buying records . Too Much . The cover photo on Greg Kihn's first album was taken in front the store . Also , Greg Douglass is a very underrated bay area guitarist . I've enjoyed his work since I first saw a little known band , at the time , Country Weather . He has played with everybody . He also co-wrote the Steve Miller hit , Jungle Love . I saw him play at the 40th Anniversary show at Monterey with Electric Flag , last year . We thought he stole the day . Great Guitarist . Thanx , David .

Man I remember getting a free copy of the LP, some promotion in SF, I think through KRQR. I was rooming with a couple of chicks and we were so into the album, dancing to it over and over. Never left the turntable for a good several months. I'm pretty sure I was at this show, having just turned 21 at the time.
