My introduction to the Grateful Dead came via the Dead Set/Reckoning live albums of the early 80's, so I'd have to say that this lineup is among my favourites as well just because I grew up on it. Jerry Garcia is pretty much the only reason I am interested in the GD, though. I could listen to him sing and play all day. Pigpen and Bob Weir, not so much. Just sayin'!

I'll try again, maybe I can generate some heated discussion....to me this is the second best incarnation of the GD, first being the period, '60's to early 70's when Pigpen was in the group....he drove the band and it was at it's best when he sang and JG could just shred....no disrespect meant to JG....just sayin'......oh and Long Live The GD!!!!

I agree with equus about the volume being very low.
