These two Grateful Dead sets, which bookended a set by Chuck Berry, occurred the night after the band's debut album was released. Their local popularity had steadily been increasing and with their first album fresh on the streets, these shows had a celebratory atmosphere, no doubt in part due to being surrounded by friends and…entire summary

Are you serious? There are over 20 Dead shows in the Vault. And, while I love the Vault, I have to say, what is the added value in providing these Dead shows, many of which are the exact same tapes that have circulated among tape traders for years? How about some lesser heard bands?

Hell yeah Wolfy!! It's about time that the vault features some Dead shows!I love this site & would like extend many many thank you's to Wolfgangs's Vault for giving us access to all this great music for free!As for this show,a prime example of The "dexedrine" Dead! Neal Cassady & Mountain Girl,Merry Pranksters, were feeding the boys Mexican dexedrine like Flintstone vitamins, and we get the hyper-speed numbers that were so commaon with early Grateful Dead performances! I personally love this era of Dead music, but that's just me. Don't get me wrong,I love the '77 stuff, but definately don't think,as most do,that 1977 was the best year for The Grateful Dead! Pig Pen was the man,and I love the Pig era Dead! This show is priceless, and anything form 1966 to 1968 is worth a listen if just for the history of,IMO,the greatest rock band ever! PEACE,LOVE,& The GRATEFUL"goddamn"DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
