Concert Summary

With this show, the band capped off what had been a very busy year of recording and touring. They had gone out with Bob Dylan, for the historic Dylan and the Dead tour and live album. There had been solo projects from nearly all the members, and the group had finally returned to the recording studio after a seven year absence to write, record and release In the Dark.     I was there too, and had family record this off the radio, lost the tapes in 2001 in Vegas. Sat here and just remembered how much pleasure this music always brings me. Live on Deadheads...

    I grew up in Marin. The night of the day Jerry died, I had a dream of a view of the Bay from the Marin headlands, and there was a big Jerry head floating over SF and he had a big Cheshire cat grin on his face...I can still see it as plain as day in my mind's eye...miss you, Jer...
