Following his miraculous recovery, the Dead returned with a new focus, a new album, and would soldier on into their third decade together. One of the first tapes I have ever had. Wore it out! Seemed every radio station in the Country was playing this show live. Band seems energized; tight playing! Was probably more like the beginning of the end, as they really only 3 years left of meaningful, enthusiastic performances. But, this one reminds of being a 16 year old trippin' his ass off on New Year's Eve!

just before this show started I found out that I was going to be a father in 7 months. I taped the show but there was a lot of nasty static from time to time. I lost the tape a while back. Glad to hear it again. I remember a really hot version of Iko Iko. where's the rest of the show?

I stayed up with my buddy and taped this from the radio. We were both just wishing we could be there, but alas, we were in NH and only 17. We had fun raiding his mom's liquor cabinet though we had nothing to puff...

Bertha was the name given to a large fan in the dead's office that would walk itself across the floor when it was turned on.
