Concert Summary

With music and theatrical concepts so far-out and wide-ranging that it's required multiple bands and literally dozens of albums and tours to work them out, George Clinton has become the prime innovator of all things funk, creating one of the most impressive bodies of work of any modern day bandleader. Clinton began his journey by forming a doo-wop group, The Parliaments, while growing up in New Jersey during the 1950s. During the 1960s as a staff writer for Motown, he honed his writing skills while paying close attention to the black musical innovators of the late 1960s like Sly Stone,…entire summary

Saw the Parliament/Funkadelic tour in Milwaukee in maybe 1978. I think my girl and I were the only two white people out of 10,000 fans at the Auditorium. It was the shit.

Saw Parliament durring the Mothership tour: George, Bernie, Eddie, Bootsie, etc. George's entrance in the pick limo with the French maid chauffer was wild. The place went nuts. Only after the party was over did I realize that Nancy and I were the only white folks in the crowd of 8,000 .

This 1995 show demonstrates that 20 years later George and his crew still got it. They haven't missed a step or slide in all that time.

I would like to thank the movie PCU for introducing me to P-Funk as a 13 year old. I thought then that this band was something special, and then I heard Maggot Brain and lost my train of thought for the better part of the next 15 years. Long live the Funk
