If Peter hadn't left the band when he did Genesis would have died a death soon after! That lineup had come to the end of its day, the band had to move on and had to do it without Gabriel. They became a much better and tighter unit, a team! Peter was to up himself for the band to progress and evolve. Listen to Seconds Out from start to finish and you`ll hear a rock band at its absolute peak. Its a great pity that Mike left when he did, they never replaced his mercurial guitar talents, along with Tony`s "Voices" this was the very backbone of the band. I 1st saw them in 75 at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester and ive seen every tour since, sometimes we went to a couple of shows per tour.
The best show had to be Knebworth 1978! I still have the ticket and program.

Thanks for the many many memories and the fantastic music boys!!!

    Awesome.
To those on this side of the pond, we never got the medley with suppers ready on our version of the tour.
I have just found this site and congratulate you on a treasure trove of wonders.
to those who don't like phil on vocals the remedy is simple.Dont listen to it. Advise you listen to Peter as solo artist. Post Gabriel Genesis are world class.Deal with it

To all who knock Phil, If Genesis had stayed together they never would have had the enormous success that Peter Gabriel and the post Gabriel Genesis enjoyed. And remember originally they auditioned hundreds of replacements for Gabriel before settling on Phil. After the lamb there was nowhere for genesis to go after that , without change.

To those that complain about Collins' vocals, please remeber he had been on tour or recording, non stop since 1970. Add to that a vocalist since 1976- its amazing his voice lasted as long as it did. If I remeber right the previous night's show, which was recorded and broadcast on King Biscuit, his voice cracked during 9/8 and thats the "genesis" of his voice problems that have continued to this day. The final show in Australia during 9/8 he completely lost his voice- ran back to the drums and they finished 9/8 and promptly left the stage, ending the show. Phil gave his blood sweat and tears to Genesis and his fans for decades. he cant sing, he can't drum, he cant do anything musically now, and has a hard time living a "normal every day life" now. How much more do all of you want?

I find it such a shame that people seem to slag Phil Collins off. Although he didn't have Gabriels stage presence, he sure as hell had his own. And just to remind people where he is happiest, he plays drums as much as is possible on these tours.

On another note, on his voice, all these songs were done in the original key for the ENTIRE American leg of this tour plus Australia. As soon as they came home to England, they dropped In Too Deep and FYFM plus they replaced Apocalypse in 9/8 with Afterglow not to mention dropping most of the songs down a pitch. So all of you who are slagging off the gig because of Phil Collins, count yourselves luck to have seen the very LAST performances of (although the end yet the best bit) Supper's Ready by Genesis. And to the person who posted this up on the site, thank you for allowing young fans like me to enjoy it.

    The End.

Phil's struggling a bit with his voice on this one - not surprising considering it's the 4th night in a row at the Forum! But as always, he still gives it his all.

Let us ALL give credit where credit is due. I have folloed Genesis in concert since The Lamb tour & Phil continued to embellish the musical genre of the group long after the departure of Gabriel. All the combined talent of this symphonic lyrical epiphany is finally being recognized with their long overdue intoduction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame here in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.
