Concert Summary

By the time this King Biscuit Flower Hour recording was made in 1978, the classic five piece Genesis lineup of Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford had dwindled to only Collins, Banks and Rutherford. Hence, the title of the album released for this tour: And Then There Were Three.

Ironically, even with its popular lead vocalist and…entire summary

I saw the July 22, 1978 show at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. Besides a great sound system that made that hockey arena sound great, the light/laser show was tremendous. Lasers were used on One for The Vine, Ripples (reflected on those six gigantic mirros above the stage) and I Know What I Like.

GREAT show!.. but i've never felt comfortable with "Deep in..." as the lead off tune.. little slow for me.. thought "dodo" was a good choice later

I saw this show twice, once in Nashville and once in St. Louis where they added Wot Gorilla, wot a surprise. In Nashville it was on the same night as the country music awards and was only 1/3 full so Phil told everyone to come on down to the front, great shows. I will never forget them.

I repeat: If anyone in the Triangle NC area wants to put together a Genesis Tribute Band... I'm game. I will do the Phil Collins role of Vocals and Drums. So we'd need a drummer, a guitarist that can play bass, a bass player that can play guitar, and a keyboardist that knows this stuff backwards and forewards. Leave a message here if interested. I want to do the 1978 set on some gigs and then and the 1980 set sometimes.
